The Ubuntu Studio theme look really very cool, isn’t it? Want to install it on Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon? That’s easy!

1. Install Ubuntu Studio theme, this includes GTK and Metacity theme. With the following commnad in your terminal:

sudo apt-get install ubuntustudio-theme

2. Install Ubuntu Studio icon theme:

sudo apt-get install ubuntustudio-icon-theme

3. Install Ubuntu Studio GDM theme:

sudo apt-get install ubuntustudio-gdm-theme

4. Install Ubuntu Studio wallpapers:

sudo apt-get install ubuntustudio-wallpapers

Of course, you can also get meta package ubuntustudio-look, but this will remove ubuntu-sounds package.

Very nice - but a single:
    sudo apt-get install ubuntustudio-look

will do the same :-) This meta package depends on all packages named above + ubuntustudio-sounds

Does anyone know how you can get just the start-up theme? The one where the computer is staring up with the horizontal ruler that shows the progress? I think that this is that is really nice.

    @SimoneDice:

    Do you mean the USplash?
If so you need to get the usplash from ubuntu studio and then you can install Startup Manager and set it as the default

Do you mean usplash? You can easily get it via

Thanks for this data. I didn’t know this could be done until I found this page. I just installed Regular Ubuntu Gusty on a PC and was longing for a Ubuntu Studio theme like I had on another PC with Ubuntu Studio 7.04 on it.
The advice here worked perfectly and I had the theme up in just a few seconds. :)

Where can you get the main menu icon? I know you have to change it with the gnome configuration editor.
