Métamorphose is a free, open source and cross-platform batch files and folders renaming utility. This program features include support renaming operations like prefix, suffix, replacement/modification/move by character/position/regular expression, insertion by position or every (number) characters, length modifications etc. In addition, Métamorphose can also support use combination of user text, numbering, id3 tags, date, and time. With Métamorphose, you can batch rename images, mp3, and other files. That’s very easy.
How to install Métamorphose
Métamorphose is very powerful. The latest version of Métamorphose is 0.2.1 beta. You can download it here.
To install Métamorphose on Linux, you can run the following commands:
tar zxvf metamorphose2_0.2.1.tar.gz
cd metamorphose2_0.2.1/
sudo make all
Note: You need Python 2.4 or 2.5, wxPython 2.6, and Python Imaging Library (PIL).
How to run Métamorphose
1. Click Applications → Accessories → Métamorphose2 menu item.

2. This will open Métamorphose window.

When I open Metamorphose2 I get this error: Can’t load image from file ‘icons/down5.png’ file does not exist. Same error for same with up.png, downall.png upall.png and down.png. Any idea what’s causing this? I have checked /usr/share/metamorphose2/icons and the files are there…
